Life-spectrum is a colourful shade of all colours within the life.Summation of these colours is white. Here comes the story of "I" with all aspects.
Now the other side of the coin is self-love .It is said by Rousseau that man is born free and everywhere he is in chains.Jiddu Krishnamurty says many people in the world are independent but a very few are free.Freedom is a spiritual quality. Here comes the concept of primary self love which is needed for survival. There is a fine line of demarcation between self love and ego, which should not be misunderstood. What is self love?He that falls in love with himself will have no rivals. An illustration, I will be interested in other people's life if that will inspire me or I can do anything for them at the time of their need.
In Greek mythology,Narcissus was unrelentingly devoted to his own striking beauty and destroyed himself .Moreover in the prologue of The Alchemist it is told as follows;the lake wept for Narcissus because each time he knelt beside its banks,it could see in the depths of his eyes, its own beauty reflected. The "I" is the reason for which the lake wept and made the salt-lake.In the similar manner this ego is the reason of the unhappiness.
The musk deer/Kasturi mruga (in Sanskrit)searches from where the aroma comes from and roams madly hither and thither but never realises it originated from its own musk gland.
In similar connotation as a mountain is composed of tiny grains of earth, the ocean is made up of tiny drops of water; even so "I" is but an endless series of little details, actions, speeches, and thoughts.
As this "I" is responsible for the self in every way we don't understand as the kasturi does and blame the others .This realisation is a great process.
All bad qualities centre around the ego. When the ego is gone, realisation results by itself. These are neither good nor bad qualities in the self. The self is free from all qualities.Qualities pertain to the mind only.
